Living Abroad
- My family moved to Brussels before I could remember
- We lived in Brussels through the end of my First Grade year
- I learned French and attended Belgian public school

Back in the USA
- I started back at American public school
- Following Belgian tradition, I had my classmates asking, "Who’s the weird kid bringing a briefcase to school?"
- I struggled reading english but always though, "Hand me a kids book in French and I’ll read that"
Private School
- Public school was not good to my sister and I was on the same track, so off to private school
- Private school was perfect for me with an ultra-small class and all the attention I needed to get me where I needed to be
- Private school introduced me to:
- Music with mandatory choir
- Performing with a mandatory spring musical and Shakespeare for 7th and 8th graders
- Friends that introduced me to skateboarding and everything that goes with it in the mid-late 1980s
